Looking for a summer job? Camp Agape is a great place to work! You will be challenged to grow as a Christian and as a leader. But most importantly, you will have the opportunity to positively impact kids for a lifetime. Camp is going to be awesome this year! Here are a few roles we are hiring for:
Do you love to serve? Are you willing to do the less glamorous jobs while learning to be a future counselor? Then the role of Junior Counselor is for you! You will be mentored and trained by Counselors as you do what it takes to assist them and the camp as a whole. If you desire to be a Counselor at some point, then this is where you should go to train. While this role is unpaid, the impact you have on the lives of children is priceless.
The role of Counselor at Camp Agape is very important. You will be leading a group of children from one of three age brackets (K-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th). You will guide them, lead them, teach them, and watch over them throughout the day. You will very likely also be blessed with the task of mentoring and leading a Junior Counselor. Other duties include, but are not limited to, leading activities or stations and helping to clean up.
Senior Counselors would have oversight over the Counselors. They would help to create schedules and make sure that everything runs smoothly from a safety and administrative standpoint. They would also be expected to mentor and guide Counselors and Junior Counselors.
Jesus takes very seriously the call to care for His children (Matthew 18:6). Whatever role you desire, you must be very responsible. You need to be one who will adhere to the rules and teach the kids to do the same. At the same time we want people who love kids and people who the kids enjoy being around. So, we want you to be serious when it comes to safety and our camp rules but we also want you to be a person who naturally has fun being around kids. Lastly and most importantly, we want someone who has a strong relationship with Jesus. We are here to teach about God’s love so you must have a strong relationship with Jesus in order to qualify for this job.
In conclusion, all staff members must:
- Have a committed relationship with Jesus Christ
- Faithfully attend church (youth must be active in a church youth group)
- Honor those placed in leadership above them (teachers, parents, church leaders)
- Be faithful, available, and teachable
